One of the first dishes I really enjoyed cooking was this Italian sausage, peppers and onions. My sister and I love this recipe and appreciate that the dish comes out consistently no matter what kitchen you are cooking in!
Ingredients
- 6 sweet and/or spicy sausages
- 3 assorted peppers - red, yellow, green, orange - you decide!
- 1 large yellow onion
- 2 Tbsp salted butter
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoons of dried basil
- 1 teaspoons of dried oregano
- 1/4 cup white wine
- Italian bread (as a side or to eat as a hero)
Directions
- Place the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat and brown on all sides
- Remove sausage from skillet and set aside
- Melt butter in the same skillet as step 1
- Stir in the yellow onion and garlic - cook 3 to 4 minutes
- Mix in peppers
- Season with basil and oregano
- Stir in white wine
- Continue to cook and stir until peppers and onions are tender
- Slice sausage While waiting for onions and peppers to cook
- Return sausage slices to skillet with the vegetables
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 15 minutes, or until sausage is heated through
