Looking for a tasty green appetize or side dish? This versatile green only needs a few simple ingredients and a nice char to add some unique flavor to any dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh brussels sprouts
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp honey
- 5 cloves minced garlic
- Black pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
Preparation
You'll want to soak the brussels sprouts in water for about 20 minutes prior to preparing them. If you don't have time, be sure to at least rinse them off!
Directions
- Set the oven to 400 degrees
- Trim the bottoms off of the brussels sprouts and then halve them (top to bottom)
- Heat cast iron skillet to medium and add extra virgin olive oil
- When the oil beings to shimmer, put sprouts cut side down in one layer in pan
- Add garlic, along with salt and pepper to taste
- Cook sprouts undisturbed in pan until bottoms begin to brown
- Transfer to oven
- Give the pan a shake every 5 minutes
- Keep the sprouts in the oven until they are brown, tender and easily pierced with a fork (about 10-20 minutes)
- Taste to determine if more salt and pepper is needed
- Stir in balsamic vinegar and honey
- Serve!
